Tungsten electrodes WT20

WT-20 (red)

Use: tungsten electrode for welding of especially important structures of carbon, alloy and stainless steels, titanium, copper and their alloys on DC

Mark by ISO: WT-20

Color of electrode edge: red

Most common electrodes as they first have shown significant advantages over purely composite tungsten electrodes for welding at a constant current. Nevertheless, thorium - low level radioactive material, thus, vapors and dust from grinding of the electrode can affect the health of the welder and environmental safety.
A relatively small selection of thorium in the episodic welding, as shown, are not risk factors. However, if welding is performed in confined spaces regularly and for a long time or the welder is forced to inhale the dust generated during grinding of the electrode, it is necessary for safety reasons to equip the production work of local ventilation.
Thoriated electrodes work well in welding at a constant current and enhanced current sources, wherein, depending on the task may be to change the sharpening angle of the electrode. Thoriated electrodes well retain its shape at high welding currents, even in those cases where pure tungsten electrode melts to form a spherical surface at the end.
